FOUNDER
president
Shafiqullah Shaiq is a veteran media leader, media entrepreneur, and founder of Shaiq Network Media Center, a prominent private media initiative serving Afghan audiences. Since 1995, he has been actively involved in media development, education, and public communication, playing an important role in strengthening independent media and civic awareness in Afghanistan.
At the beginning of his career, Mr. Shaiq focused on education and capacity building, establishing training programs that have successfully educated and trained more than 20,000 students in computer and English studies, as well as over 1,600 journalists across Afghanistan. These programs contributed significantly to building professional skills and strengthening the country’s emerging media sector.
Throughout his career, he has implemented and contributed to more than 225 development and media-related projects in cooperation with international organizations and partners. These initiatives were carried out with the support of institutions including the United States Government, the U.S. Embassy, NATO, the U.S. Army, Provincial Reconstruction Teams (PRT), the United Nations, UNAMA, UNICEF, and the Embassies of the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
The projects covered a wide range of areas including democracy promotion, human rights, anti-corruption initiatives, counter-narcotics awareness, migration issues, public health, public service announcements (PSAs), constitutional awareness, and strengthening the relationship between government institutions and the public.
Much of this work was implemented through media production, broadcasting, journalism training, and communication campaigns, helping deliver critical information and educational programming to communities across the country. Under his leadership, numerous media initiatives were produced, including documentary films, television programs, dramas, and public awareness campaigns, many of which were distributed through national media platforms.
In addition to media production and broadcasting, Mr. Shaiq has been deeply engaged in education, professional training, and media capacity-building programs, contributing to the development of Afghanistan’s media professionals and communication infrastructure.
With nearly three decades of experience, Shafiqullah Shaiq continues to promote responsible journalism, independent media development, and public awareness initiatives that connect Afghan society with global perspectives.
